Starting off as a purely NHS practice, Porchester Dental, Nottingham have now been looking to expand their private sector. Recently undergoing new ownership and after almost 21 years as an associate at Porchester Dental, Principal Dentist Mandy Hampson is looking to revamp the practice and grow the business. Month 3 - Team day out

My first team day out premiering our new practice logo! Trying something different like “Its a Knock out!” It brought out some heroic action in some otherwise very quiet characters.....a real surprise and very impressive team efforts!

Month 2 – Branding and building!

For myself and the other associate Renata, we have been incredibly busy since the recall automation was set up. We haven't had the need to advertise for new patients due to our own patients returning. In trying to improve and increase the private services, new branding was essential but still keeping the same practice name so not to worry or confuse patients.

Hence, the new logo is a design of the building and over the next 12 months we’ll be decorating and exterior and aesthetic improvements will take place.

We are having a team Day out next Saturday (15th July) at a "it's a knockout type event" so I will have plenty of photos to share of our team!

Month 2 – Changing our workflow habits

The Reception team have been working very hard to change their habits and work from the workflow tab on the reception screen, this will most definitely improve the stats in terms of bookings made and emails collected. Every staff member has become obsessed with collecting mobiles and emails and we are slowly but surely gathering more and more data!

We’re also booking patients for their next recall appointment which has been very well received by most patients as it's been their preference to do so.

We are now trying to concentrate on reducing the white space and I've encouraged every staff member to add patients who require treatment to the short notice list. One dentist is retiring at the end of August so white space may be more apparent in his diary over the next few weeks.

Month 1 - Working on front desk processes

From Monday 8th May every single patient seen was asked for email address and mobile numbers to be updated.

We had a sign put up asking for these details and placed writing cards and pens at reception which were then stapled to the patients consent forms as they went in to the surgeries. It was easier for the nurse to update them in surgery keeping everything confidential and away from a busy reception area.

Reception made sure every patient was asked to book the next recall appointment before leaving. Some patients could not commit due to work schedule and some defined to book but I think overall we booked between 70-75% which was higher than we thought we could manage. 

I've also requested ownership of the Google webpage for the practice, a code is being sent to the practice for me to complete this action, and we are upgrading to the latest version of EXACT today!

Practice revamp

We are currently working on rebranding the practice including the website and freshening up the exterior so the team are looking forward to an exciting new start!

Completed the purchase!

After 21 years working as an associate at Porchester Dental Practice; along with two partners we have now completed the change of ownership and are excited to begin our twelve month programme. We have a great team who are very ambitious and eager to learn and take on more which is great as the practice really does have so much potential.

I have my first call scheduled with our Challenge Consultant Andy in a few days so I am looking forward to sharing our goals and getting a focussed plan together to meet these!
